Can I really do this at home without a therapist present?
Yes — for most challenging behaviors, parent-implemented behavioral interventions have been shown in systematic reviews to produce outcomes comparable to clinician-delivered treatment. Our protocols are specifically designed for home implementation with 10–15 minute daily sessions. For severe behaviors (significant SIB, dangerous elopement, pica), we recommend starting with a telehealth session with a Pinnacle BCBA before implementing independently.
How quickly will I see results?
Most families report early signs of change between weeks 3 and 5 — but behavioral change follows a non-linear path. Expect a possible temporary increase in the challenging behavior during the first 1–2 weeks of intervention (an "extinction burst" — a sign the protocol is working).
