Most sessions won't be perfect. Here's your fix for every common challenge. Session abandonment is not failure — it is data.
Child sniffs inward every time
Why: Inhalation is the unconscious default — the concept of pushing air out through the nose is genuinely novel. Fix: Return to Step 1. Use mouth blowing first (blow feather with mouth). Then block mouth and redirect. Use nose flute — it cannot sound with inhalation.
Child blows entirely through mouth
Why: Soft palate is not closing to redirect air to nasal passage. Fix: Nose flute is the immediate intervention — it physically requires nasal airflow. Also: gently hold child's lips pressed together; the only exit route becomes the nose.
Zero nasal airflow after multiple sessions

The approach for a 10-year-old emphasizes dignity, autonomy, and framing the skill as a life skill rather than a baby activity. The neural plasticity required is present well into teenage years and beyond.
We've tried everything for months. Is this approach actually different?
Most prior approaches fail because they attempt to teach the final skill (blow into tissue) before the foundational skill (conscious nasal exhalation) is established. Start at Stage A regardless of the child's age — can your child move a feather with nasal airflow? That is your starting point.
How do I know if this is sensory vs. motor planning?

My child doesn't understand any instruction. How do I start?
