Why: Visual fidgets become competing distractors for visual learners. Fix: Switch to tactile-only fidget (under-desk Velcro, therapy putty out of sight). Fidget must be automatic, not visual.

Why: Sensory tolerance to headphones requires gradual habituation. Headphones may be too tight, too heavy, or uncomfortable. Fix: Start with headphones worn for 30 seconds off-task, then build. Try lighter ear defenders or loop earplugs.

Why: Too much novelty at once. New materials require attentional resources to process — defeating their purpose. Fix: One new material per week. Maintain all others as familiar tools. Novelty and attention support cannot coexist in early implementation.

Why: Parent frustration is a real, documented phenomenon. It is also contagious — children read parent emotional state and mirror it. Fix: Stop the session warmly. "Let's take a break.
